Behind-the-Scenes Look at ¡Pleibol!

Baseball is at the heart of many communities in the United States, but for Latinas and Latinos it is more than simply a game. Today, over 30% of Major League rosters are Latino and that number continues to rise! For over a century, Latinas/os have helped grow and shape America's pastime, both in barrios and the big leagues.

In this online conversation with Smithsonian curator Dr. Margaret Salazar-Porzio, we will provide a behind-the-scenes peek into the National Museum of American History’s new exhibition ¡Pleibol! In the Barrios and the Big Leagues / En los barrios y las grandes ligas, put on in partnership with the Smithsonian Latino Center. Dr. Salazar-Porzio will discuss the influence of baseball on Latino communities across the country, and introduce us to stories of Latina/o leaders who continue to influence the game.
